Nothing time
I was reading back a note I wrote in 2024
I want to have dedicated "nothing time" everyday
time to just be bored
not even meditate
just be
that's when ideas can hit and creativity can strike
when you have a full, busy day, there's not enough time to think and reflect
I haven't yet adopted this habit. right now, the most "nothing time" I get is in the shower
and I feel that while showering I get so many spontaneous ideas, or make some mental connection, or remember a pending todo — it would be a superpower to be able to do that more often
another place I can aim to convert into "nothing time" is while eating. I tried that today. instead of my usual youtube video, I did nothing. it was pretty hard, but I'm sure it'll get easier
I learned this from one of my close friends. he always eats without distractions. he also makes it a point to lock away his phone while working. he says this forces him to stare out the window when, for example, claude is working.
I want to adopt this habit of allowing myself to be bored more often
